Are you afraid of the dark?

This was the title of the scariest TV-show I’ve ever watched as a kid. A group of kids hanging around this campfire out in the woods telling scary stories, and then putting out the fire by throwing a handful of sand on it. The show gave me nightmares for years, and now I have been re-experiencing that frightening feeling that used to scare the heck out of us all growing up. Sleep tight, and don’t let the bed bugs bite? Yeah, right.

Beyond the Gates

And then it’s over, for this time at least. Hopefully, there will be a lot of more Beyond the Gates’ in the future to come, because this is what it’s all about: Great concerts, even greater people and a lot of good ol’ fun.

Flotsam and Jetsam/Death Angel

When this gig was announced, I was totally mindblown. Not only because of the line-up with the two thrash classics, it was more the venue they were going to play. Revolver? The tiny basement in Oslo that only takes 150 people or something? Hell yeah. And this is how it went. Continue reading

Sweden Rock Festival

For me, Sweden Rock Festival is probably the highlight of the year. At least when it comes to big, outdoor festivals. Four days of drinking, hanging around with awesome people in the sun, and great acts as well. What more can you ask for? As always on a festival, you don’t get to see all the bands you’ve planned to see, but here are some of the bands I catched this year. Continue reading

Göteborg Rockfest: Night/Helvetets Port/Enforcer

With so many festivals each year, some of them are bound to slip under my radar. I actually noticed that this festival existed only a couple of days before it was held, but when I realised that Enforcer was playing, I just had to take a spontaneous trip to Gothenburg. And I certainly don’t regret it. Continue reading

Inculter destroys Oslo

Who would’ve thought that the small municipality Fusa could breed such thrashing maniacs like Inculter? Well, it seems that leading thrash/death metal bands in Norway have got a new competitor – the youngsters in Inculter made that pretty clear last night, leaving Pokalen in ruins with their aggressive thrash metal. Defenders of the Old Fest III – Day one

Where to start? So many great bands, so many great people, great venue, a great festival indeed! The festival, specialising in bringing old acts back to life mixed with pretty new up-and-coming bands, took place at The Bell House in Brooklyn, New York. This years edition featured bands like Exciter (reunion), The Rods, Liege Lord, Riot, High Spirits, Cauchemar, Aggression, Destructor and many more, and it was worth crossing the Atlantic ocean to catch this event. You’re someone’s son

In 2011, Grusomhetens Teater (Theatre of Cruelty), did a performance inspired by Michal Walczaks Amazonas which premiered during Eurodramafest at Teatr Bagatela in Krakow. This year, they’ve decided to perform it all over again, with performances both in Oslo and Bristol. I didn’t get the to see the performance when it was first staged, but the nice thing about theatre is that it doesn’t matter – it’ll be your first time anyway, and none of the performances is similar to one another.
